What do I have to unhock before timing the engine

disconnect the tan/black wire near the distributor. It should be a single wire hook up. then time the engien in the normal way it should be set at -0- for small block engines and -4- btdc for big block. you didn't put down what size the engine is, next time make sure to if you are asking an engine /powertrain question.
