1990 Other Chevrolet Models running rough

I have a 1990 chevy 3500 series pickup. It is fuel injected with a 350. The problem is that it is running really rough, blowing black smoke, hard starting and idle's high. What could this be????

sounds to me that its burning oil and you should have a compression test performed on each cylinder, it is getting up there in miles..
