My son has a Chevy Truck and the alternator will not charge the battery. We have replaced the Battery. Alternator, Belt tensioner. Belt and battery connections. The battery light stays on and the guage does not show a charge. I can put a volt meter straight across the alternator and I only get what the battery says in voltage. Should I not get about 14 volts? Thanks

Check the brown wire on the alternator if its open between the alternator thru the charge indicator to the gauge fuse
