1987 Other Chevrolet Models won't kick over

i am having problems with starting my G20 cargo van.
when i go to start it turns over almost till battery is dead , at least 4-5 revolutions or more. just recently it stopped i had it towed and mech. said it was due to oil pressure building up , that it took so long. i had the fuel pump, filters replaced a month ago, timing chain 2 months ago,and water pump.
mech. said it was older van and pressure need to build up for it to start.
at this point i beleive its the injectors need cleaning, fuel pump, even after i pumped the gas i didn;'t smell any fuel.

Do you hear the fuel pump come on for a few secs when you turn key to run?? If so check the fuel pressure and comeback with the fuel pressure readings we start here.
