1976 Other Chevrolet Models Rod and Main Bearings

1976 Other Chevrolet Models V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Need to purshase bearings but would like to know what is the difference between standard size and .010 .020 .030 size. Kind of got an ideal of it but if I can get some more info on it I sure would appreciate it.

Hi there,

These are the set under size repair bearings, as the journals wear they will be machined down to the next repair size, this is in .010" increments, there are usually 4 under size bearings available, to allow for machining of badly damaged journals, this under size brings the bearing oil clearance back to the standard size, which helps increase oil pressure.
