1974 Other Chevrolet Models brake vacume booster

i have a new 79 booster that i want to use in a 74 van the brake rod is too short . can i use the longer rod from the 74 in its place? the 79 booster is for pick up.

if you check with an auto parts store you can probably get the old booster rebuilt. If not the onely thing to do is to try it and see what happens. YOu don't neeed to bleed the system to do that so it's only the time needed to replace it.
