1973 Other Chevrolet Models Starter

I turn the key and it sounds like all the starter does is just wine. Help.

Underneath, there may be a flywheel cover, if you remove the cover, you may be able to see if the starter is kicking out the pinion gear, if it isn't, you may need a new starter/solenoid assembly.
