My car lately has been leaking fluids from the middle section of the engine on the passengers side. It pools after sitting for about 5+ hours but then stops when the pool reaches about 4-6 inches in diameter. I haven't checked if it is oil yet but I assumed that it was beacuse I have to add about a quart every one to 1 1/2 weeks when I fill up. When I start my car white smoke will come out of the exhaust temporarily along with accelerating on an on-ramp (Only the first time during the day, any time I accelerate quickly the rest of the day, it does not). Question: 1. Would oil leak from that side of the car? 2. Does this sound like another leak like coolant, antifreeze, etc? And if so. Is a car with this age and mileage expected to require that much oil? Either way it seems that I may need to take it in to fix a blown head gasket or get new valve covers? The engine compartment is also really grimy and I haven't had the oil changed in a while unfortunately; so could it be a back-drip problem. I am going to take it to a shop to get it looked at but I just need some ideas and talking ponts about the problem; so if you could tell me what you think the problem may be it would be much appreciated.

Its prolly oil if you are adding oil that much. Its pretty obvious if it is because the coolant would evaporate and the oil will not. If its leaking that much just touch it and see if it feels like oil or just thin water. If its oil, it could be coming from anywhere on your engine. Bring it to a mechanic and ask them to hunt down the leak for ya.
