1970 Chevy Nova Backfire When let off accelerator

1970 Chevy Nova 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

I have a 1970 Nova with a 4-cyl and 3 on a tree. The car will back fire specifically when I let off the accelerator. I have changed the Fuel Pump, and a new vaccum. I think it may be the timing but what else should be looked into. Thank You.

Inspect and test the air injection system especially the diverter valve it will cause your problem during deceleration BTDT
