I have a nova 283 engine and I want to go back to the rear oil sump oil pan. I have a new chevy racing pan, for a nova, also have installed a new oil pump and a new pick up screen, and that's my problem. the pick up screen does not clear the pan. I have called on a new stock pan but the sump only measure about 8" I seem to need closer to 9" for the pick screen to clear?

the sump normally sites very close to the bottom of the pan. As long as it clears the bottom by 1/4-1/2" you should be ok.
