Engine Performance problem
1967 Chevy Nova 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

My Chevy II has the original straight 6, it runs fine at first, due to replacing the radiator and other things the cooling temp does not get above 180 degrees. After the car has been running for at least 1/2 hour, I lose all power, if I give it gas, it will hesitate and back fire. Max up hill speed is 20 mph. The fuel filter has been changed and the carb has been adjusted. Any ideas what chould be causing this problem? Thanks for the help.

Sounds like old time vapor lock in fuel system. Have you put a pump on lately?

I have not. I am not a mechanic by any streatch of the imagination, but I can replace things that do not require adjusting and unlike new cars the fuel pump is easy to get to. Thanks for the info.

Just pm me if you need further help. I was a senior in high school when that car was born.
