I have a 65 chevy II nova. When the engine gets to temp it will run very rich and stall out. It will not start on its own, after that. If I pour gas into the carb it will start long enough to burn off the gas I poured into the carb, and then dies. After a few times it will usually stay running long enough to get me home. When I pour the gas into the carb the gas actually boils in the carb. I dont believe the carb should be that hot and I think the reason it works after a bit is the gas cools the carb enough to run. What would cause the carb to get that hot and how can I fix it. Any other ideas would be appreciated. The entire fuel system is new or rebuilt from the gas tank all the way to the carb.

Use fuel with lower volatility or you can try to shield the fuel pump and fuel line.

I was having a similar issue with my 66 Nova after I did a motor swap. I solved my problem by relocating my fuel line to the pump, onto the outside of the frame rail. My headers were causing a vapor lock in the line.
