My car takes awhile to heat so I went to check the coolant hose. When I touched the hose it broke off from the site where I add the coolant. Will I be able to drive to a repair shop or is the car not safe to drive at all?

If your repair shop is only a few blocks away, then yes. If it's any further than that, then "NO". You'll destroy you entire engine.
