2003 Chevy Monte Carlo windshield wipers

When we turn on the windshield wipers they go right to the HI speed. When we we try to shut them off they keep going, we need to turn the sitch half a dozen times to get them to shut off, sometimes they stop midway down on the windshield. whats wrong??

The switch is what determines when power is supplied to the wiper motor. If you can't shut them, chances are the switch is bad.
