2003 Chevy Monte Carlo belt tensioner

i was trying to install a new serpentine belt on my car. now my belt tensioner will not re-tighten it will just spin. is there anyway to fix this without going to the dealership?

Take me thru how you changed the belt like you moved the tenisor clockwise or counter clock wise etc.Let me know so i can help you.
