2002 Chevy Monte Carlo Fuel Gauge

My fuel gauge is not working correctly, it will show a half tank and the low fuel light and the chimes come on. Does anyone know if it has a fuel sensor that controls the gauge? If so where would it be found?

the fuel level sensor is located inside the fuel tank.
