2002 Chevy Monte Carlo clicking in steering wheel

When I start my auto and turn the steering wheel to the right or the left I hear an feel a clicking through the steering wheel. Can you tell me what can cause that to happen.

does it clunk or click. if it clunks it needs a intermediate shaft.
