1999 Chevy Monte Carlo replacement

i am replacing the trans. and i have most of it complete but im stuck.i dont know the best way to drop the subframe to remove it.would i need to detach it at the lower ball joint and control arms?i would appreciate a solutuion.the motor is a 3.1 liter
