1999 Monte Carlo, automatic. Test scan show code P0753 , 1-2 Shift Solenoid circuit failure 1-2 failure. What do I need to check first to find the problem

take it to a trans shop as there may be other problems causing this. The shift valves are in the trans anyhow. As long as it gets power to it then it's an internal problem.
