I have a 98 monte carlo 3.8 litre engine with 125,000 miles and i just had the engine replaced the problem that my car is having is it wont shift out of second gear and also the speedometer is not giving a reading..i wanna know can these problems be related and a possible solution to both

make sure the speed sensor on the transmission is plugged in.

where is the speed sensor located on the transmission and will that cause the gears to not shift properly if its not plugged in or are those separate problems
