1998 Chevy Monte Carlo P0440

I have a 98 Monte Carlo with trouble code "evaporation systems failure." The gastank leaks at the seam when its filled above a 1/2tank. Could the tank cause this code or is it likely to be somthing else?

if the fuel tank has a leak in it then yes it will definitely throw this trouble code.
