It sounds like the motor is getting current so I imagine, as you do) the window has either gone off track to the side or it's gone too far back and gone off track that way.
Measure the distance from the right side of the window and the left side of the window to the front of the opening--see if it's square. If they're unequal, it's off track to the side. If the two measurements are equal, it may be off track to the rear.
You may be able to "help" it back on track by pulling on it gently as you active the switch. If you can get it back on track it should work but try not to put it so far back from now on. Much cheaper than fixing it!
