1997 Chevy Monte Carlo 135000 miles

Sometimes my car has an low idle, but at times it idles real high. I believe the RPM goes from 100 to 400 and then back down fast. Sometimes when it is in park it just idles high on its on. I was told that it could be the throttle position sensor. Not sure what I should do.
