I just had a new fuel pump and fuel filter replaced on my 2005 Chevy Malibu, ( 4 cyl, automatic trans with 71,000 miles on it) after the fuel pump went out coming home from vacation and 4 hours from my home. The gas tank had to be dropped and the tank was full of bad gas. They emptied and clean the tank, replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter and cleaned the injectors. On the way home from the repair shop the check engine light came on? What now? I check the gas cap lid and tightened it. BUT the light is still on! Help?

In my experience, bad gas shows up before you leave the parking lot of the filling station. But that's a whole other stroy.

You need to pull the code from the computer and find out what is bothering the CEL. I have a feeling it will come up as an EVAP code. But you just can't assume. Get the numbers of the codes and post back.
