2007 Chevy Malibu Check engine light, fuel light mis-readin

My chevy malibu has been a good car. But all of a sudden the fuel light has been coming on. At first it would go off, but now it turns on my check engine light. I fill the tank and the low fuel signal will go away, but after 3/4 of a tank it goes haywire. The check engine light is staying on now, and wont go off like it was.

Have the computer scanned for code/s-you have a problem within the engine management system that caused the CEL to turn on-This is your starting point of diagnosis, finding out what's going on.
