I am trying to find the easiest and cheapest way to fix the problem with my car. In September there was flooding in my area....Lubbock Texas of all places. I went to class and left 2 hours later to find that 6 inches of rain had fallen. Every intersection I came to was flooding it was impossible to get out of all the flooding waters. After making through an intersection that I was a little nervous going through, my car died. I did not try to start it at first, I checked to make sure I was out of the deepest part of the water and my tail pipe was not in the water and tried to start and it wouldn't. She in heavy rain myself and some helpful bystanders pushed it. My husband and bother in law towed it to my house. The next day we removed the air filter, spark plugs, and using a shop vac we sucked and blew what water we could out of the engine. After a few hours the car was running and took it to get a oil change. It seemed to be running fine but the check engine light stayed on and I have notices a fumy smell and my gas mileage as dropped. So I had the diagnostic read on it...and it said something to do with the air flow sensor. Would replacing the air flow sensor correct the problem or will it take much more work than that?
