Several times in the last 2 weeks the theft deterrent system has activated. Each time there was nothing that should have set it off. According to the manual it should do this when the wrong key is used or it is hot-wired. What can I do? Can I remove that fuse, relay or whatever?? or do I have to replace it? Thanks. This is just annoying as you have to set there for 10 minutes, turn it off and then start the car.

First thing I would try is to start using a different key. Have seen a handful of ignition switches be troublesome for that sytem on this vehicle.

You cant remove a fuse to fix this, it sounds like theft deterrent module is doing out which is common, here is how to replace it and then do the relearn which should fix the problem. Check out the images (Below). Please let us know what happens.
