2005 Chevy Malibu Heater/AC temperature potentiometer

I need to know how to remove the temperature select potentiometer (location - panel directly belove radio panel)

Will not adjust from AC to heat - I have confidence pot is 'dirty'.

you have to replace the whole HVAC head unit. it is not seperate.
