2004 Chevy Malibu call looses power then stops

My car was running great however, the other day on the 405 in LA, going up hill it just lost power and died. Someone came along went under the car and hit the gas tank and it started and I got home, this happened again today, what is the problem?

sounds like you have a fuel pump going bad. you may wanna have it checked before you get stranded
