2003 Chevy Malibu removing rear struts

My husband is replacing the struts on the car. When he got to the back ones he can figure out how to remove them. They have 3 bolts but only one has a nut the other two look like washers with holes on the top. Not sure what needs to be doen to remove them.

you have to remove the 1 strut mount to body nut in the trunk area.
Then remove the 2 strut bolts from inside the fender well.
