2002 Chevy Malibu 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

My car sent intself into theft mode and im unable to start my car . I am able to move into different gear. However, the anti theft light is blinking and it will not allow car to start.

Attempt to star and leave ignition on until security light stop blinking
shut key off and try to start if light still blinking leave it until it stop
turn key off and try again
the process may take up to 20 min
turn key on in ignition for 10 or so min )
