2002 Chevy Malibu runs rough

My car runs rough. And white smoke is coming out of the tail pipe. It runs rough when climbing a hill. I had the cat replaced. The check engine light is not on. I did a tune up but no change, I also replace the fuel filter some change but then it runs rough again. It seems to be using a lot of fuel.

Are you loosing coolant is the car over heating
do a head gasket test
they have a kit that you can use for that test
