2002 Chevy Malibu ignition switch

The ignition switch will not turn completely turn off and the miliage light stays on and runs down the battery.

I just bought a 01 malibu and on that very same day, I went to start my car after work and it was completely dead. Turns out, it had been stuck on accessory the whole time instead of turning off. I had to wiggle around the gear shift and hit it a few times-kid you not!- To get it to shift all of the way into park to turn off. I hope this helps.

I had tried the gear shift multiple times and that does not work. I replaced the key cylinder and the problem is still there?
