Battery light cont. To come on, alternator and battery checked out good. Alternator get hot is there a fuse that control the output of amps. Battery light usually come on after driving for 5 to 10 miles. Only way to shut off battery light is to turn car off for a least 10 minutes then restart. Afraid alternator might start fire.

It sounds like the alternator is getting ready to fail due to the battery starting to go bad. What happens is the battery plates become oxidized and refuse to charge which overloads the alternator. Here are some guides that will ehlp you get the problem fixed.

and

You will need to remove the serpentine belt first.

Here is how to replace the alternator on your car (below)

Tighten

Tighten the generator bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft) .
Tighten the generator nuts to 30 N.m (22 lb ft) .

Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Cheers, Ken

The battery light could be caused by the battery light, but we need to find out how the tech tested the alternator. Here is a guide to either ask the tech how he tested it or have it performed as such:

The other thing we need to question is the voltage regulator which is part of the alternator/generator.
