the engine makes a loud ticking noise when started and when it warms up it quiets down to a softer ticking noise. What could be the problem? the car runs fine otherwise

Hi there,

This can be a faulty valve lash adjuster, try doing an engine service with a good quality engine flush, this may help clean and carbon deposits from the adjuster, if it is still noisy it will have to be replaced.
