My Car starts to over heat after a while of highway driving, then it starts to lose power. My car died at a stop light so i turned it off and started it back up and it was fine for the rest of the drive home. What could this be?

Check and test the thermostat and also check the coolant level and also if the cooling fan is coming on when needed
