2001 Chevy Malibu Seems like throttle is sticking

sometimes when i turn the car on it starts idling at over 3000 rpms, then if i turn it off and try again sometimes it will go back to normal. other times i will be driving and it wants to accelerate by itself (kinda scary!) what is this? throttle?, computer?, cruise control? please help!

Check your throttle position sensor and your throttle cable. Check the cable first, make sure that it is not sticking causing open throttle.
