2001 Chevy Malibu 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

Haynes says 168 in-lbs plus 30 degrees while a service bulletin says 124 in-lbs plus 30 degrees. I'm curious because the service update has a lighter load and i don't understand why. Thanks.

there is no reason given but GM runs rigorous tests on all their parts and perhaps they found it best to torque to this spec
