2000 Chevy Malibu tapping

My car is tapping very loudly in idle and in gear. Ive replaced the lifters and its still tapping. It sounds to be in the top of the engine. Any suggestions on what it may be or how to quiet it down?

It seems that it could be a rod knocking. Take it in for a proper diagnosis.

No its definetly not a rod!I was kinda thinking it sounds more like an exhaust leak>Is it possible that it may sound like that so close to the heads, mabey around the manifolds?
