2000 Chevy Malibu Intermittent air conditioning

After selecting air conditioning the air conditioning sometimes stays on for a while and sometimes very quickly (seconds) reverts to non AC. When the AC button is reset to AC the same irregular pattern persists. My local garage attempted to 'blow out' dust from the unit but this was only of limited benefit. Any suggestions you can make will help me when I go to the garage once more. Thank you

I am suspecting that you may have a tiny leak and there is not enough pressure in the system to remain on. that means there is not enough refrigerant in the system(pressure). so I would test the system pressure before moving foward, if it is found that it is under pressure, that means there is a small leak and some sealant needs to be injected into the system then some more refrigerant . let me know how it goes
