2000 Chevy Malibu 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Whenever I exceed 60 mph, my engine begins to surge and eventually shut itself off. It had check engine light on and I replaced the Knock Sensor and EGR valve. I too changed the fuel filter yet the problem persists. Could this be a transmission problem? Any Advice?

Is it setting a check engine light? If so can you get me the code. Does the vehicle start up right away afterwards?

Actually, I found the issue. Seems like a wire somehow melted that connects to the distributor. Not sure of the name or where I can go buy it.
