2000 Chevy Malibu CD PLAYER

The CD player accepts disc but after a few seconds, the ERR is displayed on the led readout. I have cleaned the drive with compressed air (like you use on computers, etc....sugested to be used on cd drives), but still get the same error on any disc I insert. What do you suggest?
By the way, the radio works fine and so does the tape player.
