I have a 98 chevy malibu that hessitates stutters and shuts off. There are no codes or check engine lights on acts like its not getting fuel or possible water in fuel. Fuel pump and filter have already been replaced and no signs of water in fuel.

Hi madmike69,

I had a similar problem with my 2000 Chevy Impala LS
3.8 Ltr V-6. After about 3 months of the stalling problems, I found that the Crankshaft Position Sensor was causing the engine to shut off as if the ignition switch was shut off. No codes or check engine light.
I'm not sure that the same applies to your Malibu, but since it is a GM car with a V-6 engine, chances are good that it does.
It's worth a try when most of the shops either guess at what's wrong or depend on the diagnostics which in this case doesn't recognize it as a problem.

Please keep me informed as to whether or not the Sensor is culprit.
