1998 Chevy Malibu gearshifter

How can I fix my gearshifter from sticking so bad? The car does not want to come out of park, it takes me a least 20 to 30 minutes to get it out of park. When it gets cold it much worst. What is causing this to happen? Does all 98 chevy Malibu have problems with this or is it all the models? If you have any ideas or information about please let me know.

Do u hear a clicking noise when u apply the brake pedal that car has a saftey lock switch on the gear shift to prevent the car from going into gear without your foot on the brake pedal that switch is probly your problem hope this helps lsauto
