1998 Chevy Malibu engine

Did you replace the igntion cables? Most likely thats the problem. Also look at the tops of the coil towers for rust and clean them when installing new wires. The flashing light means there is a terrible misfire and 99 percent of the time its caused by a combination of a bad spark plug and a bad spark plug wire. Hope this helps
