1998 Chevy Malibu starts but cuts out and won't stay running unless the throttle is in the wide open position and then it wont stay running but for a couple seconds . Could it be the fuel regulator . If so what is the easiest way to service this problem .And what is the easiest test for it ?

Check the fuel pressure and also the idle air control valve/throttle position sensor and EGR system.
