i have a 1997 malibu with a 2.4l...the engine has a rod knocking...a friend has a new 2.3l short block..can we use the 2.3 and my head to put back in the malibu? what changes would need to be made if it will work...as long as the pistons are the same shape and will clear with the 2.4 head wont this work? or can we use the 2 engines to make one to go back in the mailibu

It won't work. Two different animals. We always recommend staying with a direct replacement.
