1996 Chevy Malibu 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

i have a 96 malibu, and it seems to be using a lot of gas. Every other day, my husband has to put gas in it. What could be the problem?

first question would be how far is he going? He may be going a different route and driving more. then have the engine checked ofr any codes because once it gets out of closed the loop the service engine light comes on and your gas mileage goes away..... Oryou have someone stealing gas or a massive fuel leak...
