1981 Chevy Malibu Won't stay running

1981 Chevy Malibu 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I had my car boosted 2 times and both times it started, however, when I take my foot off the gas, it conks out and won't start again. I have checked all the wires and hoses and still nothing. Please help!!

May need to check batt voltage must be at least 12.4V if low alt will not be able to charge batt and run engine without high RPMs
