Hello,
I have a 00 Chevy Malibu with 105k miles. I bought it recently. Recently when I start up the car, and I have the windows down, I can hear the engine making loud noises, way louder than usual. Sounds like could be a belt or something, but I don't really know where to start. Any ideas?
Thanks for looking.

check your belts and timing chain/belt, then your pulleys and harmonic balancer

There was a service bulletin out where 4 of the 6 pistions were undersized. Had mine fixed, under warranty, and the loud noises went away.
